Help Make Emergency Workers' Jobs Safer by Slowing Down and Moving Over

600 × 463

Every day in Houston, emergency workers risk their lives to clear damaged vehicles from the road after accidents occur. They are usually seen wearing reflective clothing and flashing temporary lights for traffic to slow down. Unfortunately, not all drivers are aware of Move Over laws, which stipulate that all drivers must slow down whenever any vehicles or workers are blocking a section of the street. Some of the vehicles that are most often seen flashing hazard lights, which is an indication for drivers to use caution and move over, are as follows:

  • Ambulances
  • Fire trucks
  • Police Vehicles
  • Tow trucks
  • Military vehicles

Preventative measures should always be taken to comply with the law. At Porsche of West Houston, we suggest that all driver’s knowledge of Move Over laws be as second nature as wearing a seatbelt. If more drivers are aware of the dangers associated with emergency road duty, a dent in the number of car accidents will quickly follow!
